Karma Yogi – Work Exchange Program *3 Month Opportunity*
Exciting opportunities to join our retreat support team at the Hariharalaya Retreat Center in Siem Reap, Cambodia near the Ancient Temples of Angkor. Both of these positions are to be a part of our inspiring Teaching Staff with 6 international teachers – consisting of Founder/Director, Senior Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Retreat Manager and 2 Karma Yogis. Hariharalaya is a dynamic community-based learning center that offers 6 Day retreats to guests as well as ongoing teacher development through a structured learning program, intensive living yoga immersion and inspiring community framework.
The Work Exchange Program at Hariharalaya is a 3 month service-based learning program that integrates all aspects of yoga (asana, breathing, meditation, devotion, surrender, creativity, silence, and more) into daily life. The program is a mixture of study, service, practice, holding space and having fun. It is an intensive immersion in simple and conscious living. As a Karma Yogi at Hariharalaya, you are an integral member of the team in creating a space for people from around the world to come and reconnect with themselves and rediscover the joy of life. It is a truly rewarding and challenging process. Each day bring fresh experiences and unexpected moments. Community living is another core aspect of Hariharalaya. You will be a key member of the community, a role model and an open heart. The non-judgmental, inclusive atmosphere allows us to learn about ourselves by sharing with others.
At Hariharalaya we follow a traditional approach of Integral Yoga – awakening and tuning the body, heart and mind through postures, breath, meditation, creativity, silence, dance, laughter and simplicity. We use yoga as a training for living in the present moment. Our core message is the importance of dedicating some time for a regular daily practice of asana, breath and meditation (sadhana). A regular meditation practice is also a must and an important part of our retreat program.
A Karma Yogi should have an amiable, loving, sociable nature, as well as great people skills and a sharp attention to detail. He/She should be able to move and mix with everyone within the community and have perfect adaptability, mercy and cosmic love. He/She should be sympathetic and tolerant and able to adjust him or herself to the habits and ways of others. He/She should have an all-embracing and all-inclusive heart. He/She should always have a cool and balanced mind as well as a strong eagerness to selflessly serve the community.
