Outreach Teacher
THE YOGA SEED COLLECTIVE
The Yoga Seed Collective’s mission is to offer mindfulness programs with a unique, trauma-informed approach to restore personal agency in a multitude of settings, to enrich and empower diverse communities. At The Yoga Seed, we take our practice off the mat and into the world through activating our teachers, students, and staff to become advocates and change-makers in a shifting culture.
TRAUMA-INFORMED PROGRAMS
The Yoga Seed’s Trauma informed programs have been developed and refined by a team of experts with diverse backgrounds. We seek to provide yoga as an evidenced-based practice specifically geared towards the unique needs of traumatized populations in Sacramento.
We provide a variety of programs for different populations who have experienced trauma. Our curriculum is developed with input from experts in the field and incorporates elements from Restorative Justice and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Our programs actively promote distress tolerance, personal agency and mindfulness.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Yoga Seed Collective is seeking two teachers with a depth of experience and/or training around a trauma-informed yoga practice within sensitive environments. Our programs include teaching in jails, psychiatric hospitals, recovery homes, and special education schools for children and adults with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities. Following our own specifically designed trauma-informed curriculum, teachers are expected to provide a safe and welcoming space for their students, serving many whom are receiving yoga for the first time in their lives, and may be experiencing various physical, cognitive, and mental health concerns in which yoga could aid in their recovery.
We are accepting applications from teachers hold specialized experience in one or more of these environments and/or have an interest in working with these populations. We have opportunities to work in one – or a variety – of our programs.
