Description
I started practicing yoga about 3 years ago as I used to suffer with scoliosis. The moment I ‘found my mat’ I instantly fell in love with yoga. I knew I should be doing some kind of exercise, but didn’t like anything. I’ve never been a ‘gym’ person – who needs to be going to the gym after a stressful day at work, when you can practice yoga, stretch and smile and have a giggle on your mat!
Throughout the years I wanted to learn more about yoga and was always drawn to learning to teach yoga…but it was never the right time. I had a full-time demanding footwear design job, which I loved, but started to resent the 5-day working week, and was seeking a healthier work/life balance. Then, in 2017, I got made redundant. This was the kick up the bum I needed to kick-start this new direction in life! So I made the decision to take the bull by the horns and commit to doing my yoga teacher training. #neverlookedback!
I am now a freelance yoga teacher, whereby I love to help people move more in their day-to-day lives, stretch and feel their bodies more, calm their minds…and all with a smile on their face! Yoga is for everybody and every body.
I enjoy teaching all levels of yoga – but especially love watching the development of a beginners practice and see the joy within my students as they push through boundaries, both mentally and physically.
Through practicing many different types of yoga personally (vinyasa, rocket, forrest, yin, ashtanga), I believe the best of all is to practice both vinyasa and yin – two opposites, both perfectly complimenting each other. A calming yin class beautifully compliments a yang practice, or even an active ‘yang’ lifestyle! So I’ve developed and love teaching what I call ‘yin-yang-yoga’ – a dynamic vinyasa class ending with a relaxing yin sequence to close the practice.
I believe that music is a natural mood enhancer, so I carefully select and design each playlist to match the mood and energy of each sequence we practice on the mats.
