Description
I am a yoga teacher and blogger from Ireland.
Since completing my honours bachelor of arts degree in English and Spanish at Galway univeristy, NUIG I have been travelling and studying Ashtanga yoga across Europe and in India with senior authorized and certified teachers.
My most regular teachers would be certified Ashtanga teacher Luke Jordan and level 2 Authorized teacher Sonja Radvila.
I have spent time in India on several occasions, spending two months practicing with Jai Prakash in Mysore,India and most recently three months spent studying with senior Asthanga yoga teacher Rold Najaukot in Goa, India.
i have practiced with teachers john Scott, Peter Sanson, Greg Nardi, Gabriella Pascoli and Hamish Hendry when travelling in Europe. I am currently practicing in the Ashtanga yoga school in Barcelona.
Along side my daily ashtanga yoga practice and study I have spent many years practicing and studying in the Ajahn Chah forest tradition in the Theravadan buddhist lineage. I have attended and managed numerous weekend and 10-day silent meditation retreats in Ireland and the UK with British meditiaton teacher Nick Scott and senior teachers from the Forest tradition. I was also the sole yoga teacher during these retreats, teaching groups from 5 up to 25 students.
I spent one year living and managing a retreat centre in rural Ireland. I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre, the sole vegan/vegetarian chef for retreats, workshops and trainings as well as running the online and admin side of the business. I taught weekly yoga classes as well as teaching on yoga retreats and trainings at the centre.
I completed my 200 hour hatha yoga teacher training during my time at this retreat centre.
Since returning from my most recent trip to India I have been teaching regular ashtanga and hatha yoga classes and workshops in Ireland. My classes have included students from all backgrounds and age groups – from sports yoga for men, yoga for older women, general and mixed classes and Ashtanga yoga classes.
I run a yoga and travel blog/website called Yogafootsteps. This includes a personal project called ‘The Many Faces of Yoga’, a series of interviews with practitioners of yoga from all walks of life and locations to show that yoga is accessible to all. I also create Yoga Travel Guides, these are a collection of yoga studios, teachers, healthy food places and other ares of interest that I discover on my travels.
The past year has also been a great learning experience in improving my social media, online and marketing skills as well as the organising and hosting of workshops and events within the yoga comminity- including events such as business skills for yoga teachers, community meetups, yoga and cakes events and handstand workshops which were featured in the national Irish newspaper.
