Description
I have been practicing Yoga for 18 years, and teaching part-time since 2010. In 2001 I traveled India with the aim of learning everything I could about the theory of Yoga, Pranayama, Asana and mindfulness practice. For the first 4 months of my stay, I studied Tantric Yoga in Rishikesh under Swami Vivekananda. Thereafter I stayed in India for a year, studying various forms of Yoga under a variety of teachers and schools.
Among regular and ongoing workshops and courses, I have completed the following teacher training programs:
2010
Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Living Yoga (RYT 200)
2013
Ana Forrest Foundation Teacher Training (RYT 200)
2013
Ellen Heed Certificate in Nutrition and Functional Anatomy
2013
Body Control Pilates Teacher Training
My fascination with physiology, somatic psychology, injury rehabilitation and pain management led me to study a foundation course in Kinesiology and Myofascial Release in 2010.
I have had a demanding full-time career in corporate communications since 2005. As a result, I have not had the opportunity to focus my energy on teaching full-time. Instead, I have maintained a small private teaching practice focusing on post-surgical rehabilitation, addiction detox and recovery, chronic illness and anxiety, or general strengthening and postural alignment. I emphasize both mindful movement and conscious breathwork as part of the rehabilitative process. All of my clients have stayed with me for 5+ years.
I believe that our bodies hold our stories, and that the power of Yoga has the ability to effect extraordinary transformation and healing.
