Description
My passion is with the wild and water. I love slow long deep meditative classes outside (of course inside too ;)).. always giving importance to the mula bhanda as this has been a personal weakness for me and the mental and physical buoyancy of strengthening the root is still a growing curiosity.
I had practiced Bikram for about 6 years as well as Ashtanga Vinyassa…but did my first teachers training in traditional Tantra yoga as a two month immersion in India. This was an important decision and now forms the foundation of how I teach, which is a more careful meditative, strengthening approach.
I appreciate a class that encourages dropping the conscious spectrum (the thinking, judging and comparing mind)…and heightens subtle awareness.
I am a qualified ashtanga vinyassa teacher too, and love simple strong flow segments as an adjunct to a more traditional style of teaching. I learn and expand on many levels through the experience of teaching…and it’s this as well as the act of sharing that I love most about it.
As far as what I am up to and what I am working towards, I just returned from the Orange River in Namibia…where I ran a wild SUP (stand up paddling) and yoga trip. Three nights roughing it, sleeping under the stars…two hrs of yoga and meditation in the morning and many hours of paddling through a glorious otherworldly landscape. SUP and yoga trips on African rivers is what is exciting me most at the moment and, I dream, for the long term.
The trip going forward holds the philosophy that yoga and a sense of wonder/adventure are for everyone…no experience necessary just begin, where you are.
My experience is in running a series of tantra yoga classes last year, and teaching a two week retreat in Zanzibar and since then, teaching privately/outdoors.
I have been an independent massage therapist for most of my working life, and as such I have not required a CV. I work successfully from home combining the varied bodywork and breathwork skills I have learned in different parts of the world into extended touch work experiences that facilitate change in the body and mind.
I have many training certifucates, too many to list here, but will gladly email them on request
