Yoga teacher with Plant Based CookingRelaxingly Active Holidays in the Austrian AlpsAustria
Yoga and Cook at MoaAlm Mountain Retreat. We are looking for a yoga teacher who also cooks plant based meals to live and work at MoaAlm Mountain Retreat in Kals am Grossglockner in the Austrian Alps. MoaAlm offers summer and winter activity based holidays for a small group of guests. We are specifically looking for a new member of the team who can offer morning Yoga classes, cook two plant based meals, also being happy to pitch in with the cleaning and who enjoys spending time getting to know people. • Are you creative, energetic, personable, caring and a team player? • Beautiful as it looks, could you live at a remote mountain location? • Does the thought of bundles of fresh air, being active and eating well appeal to you? • Would you be happy to share your space with a small team and a small group of house guests? • Are you thoughtful of the environment and enjoy providing a sustainable travel experience for others. About our company, WearActive We (Craig & Xania Wear) started WearActive in 2006. We offer ‘Relaxingly Active’ holidays on the Croatian Island of Vis. In 2014 we opened a new location in the Alps of East Tirol, Austria. We continue to manage WearActive Croatia in summer and join the WearActive Austria team at MoaAlm in winter to lend a hand and enjoy the mountains. Our philosophy at WearActive is that being active outdoors, helps people truly relax during their holiday. We love nature so we make sure that our business does not disturb the environment whenever possible. We use solar energy, we recycle our waste, we source our supplies locally, and we try to eat organically. We prefer to serve plant based and vegetarian food to our guests. About MoaAlm Mountain Retreat. MoaAlm is a recently renovated guesthouse at 1800m on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria. Our location is truly something special: the views from the house are stunning, many hiking routes start from the house and in winter you can ski down from the house to the ski lifts, the 'garden' is filled with Marmots, Gams and Deer. Please note that MoaAlm is a remote place! The village of Kals is 5km down the road and Lienz, the nearest city is 30km from MoaAlm. In the winter, accessibility is limited, so usually once you have arrived back to MoaAlm after a day of adventure, you really do not want to leave again! MoaAlm is a home for our guests for a week and not a conventional hotel! Our business is based on weekly stays by house guests. House guests are people that have pre booked a holiday with us: they eat, sleep, do yoga and undertake outdoor activities with us. In general you will spend a week with each group (maximum 12). We like to think that whilst our guests arrive as guests they will leave as friends! Our retreat is about embracing a daily adventure. We serve and eat breakfast and dinner with guests. We provide a personalised service and homely atmosphere. We share our time and interests of the great outdoors through a variety of activities with a wide range of guests from around the world. Summer at MoaAlm: Most weeks are predominantly based around yoga, hiking and good food. We also offer some multi activity weeks (mountain biking, rafting, climbing etc) and a couple of specialist weeks such as an option to climb Grossglockner. We expect the Yoga teacher to organise the daily Yoga classes and assist with promotional material. Winter at MoaAlm: Most weeks focus on a combination of downhill ski/snowboarding, snowshoe walking, cross country skiing & yoga. Our Winter holiday is about making the most out of the mountains each day. About the job: The MoaAlm Team We are looking for a full time member of the team to preferably join us for the Summer and Winter season. Ideally this would be someone who is looking for a base and not just a seasonal role. You’ll need to be up for an adventure, an occasional challenge and love meeting new people. Our current team at MoaAlm are a caring, adventurous group who are constantly looking at ways to develop skills. Skills & Tasks • Proficient in English, preferably also German • Yoga teacher (Yoga Alliance certification required) • Cooking and preparing plant based meals and meals suitable for varying dietary requests twice a week and baking a few vegan afternoon cakes. • Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen area • House hosting, looking after and spending time with the guests, something we value highly at MoaAlm. • Assisting with the cleaning, washing, ironing • Occasional blog writing and contribution to Social Media Platforms • Driving License would also be very useful. Everyone at MoaAlm takes on more than one role with many tasks being shared between several people to keep life interesting! We also expect the new team member to be happy to be responsible for most of the cleaning and housekeeping tasks that are part of running a small business in a remote Alpine location. The Work: Annually: MoaAlm runs 18 week seasons in summer & winter with 8 weeks between each season of which 4 weeks are used to wrap up one season (admin & general maintenance) and prepare for the upcoming season. 4 weeks are taken as annual holiday between seasons (8 weeks holiday annually). Weekly: When guests are with us, we work six days a week with one full day off. We then have an extra morning and evening off a week. This gives you the chance to not dine with the guests and have some extra space. Compensation: We prefer to work with people who can commit themselves to a minimum of two years, who have the intention to make MoaAlm home. You will be joining a hiking guide, a couple at MoaAlm, who are responsible for managing, marketing, guest liaison and general maintenance, help with cleaning and accounting. Our other member of the team is predominantly responsible for most of the cooking, kitchen maintenance and assisting with photography, blog posting and recipe creation for the website. Our 5 month work seasons are: Summer 2020: May 25th - October 17th Winter 2020-2021: November 25th - April 17th Seasonal Compensation (5 months): • Salary: €960 net per month (after tax, health insurance & pension) ... this increases each season • Accommodation and food • Ski pass or €300 cash (winter season ONLY) • €200 allowance for staff training can be used for course fees, course travel and accommodation costs) • €150 clothing allowance • Travel allowance of up to €150 on arrival to MoaAlm at the start and up to €150 on departure of MoaAlm, when season is completed. Whilst the salary is modest you have no daily expenses. MoaAlm is a start up business that has just completed 5 financial years. The current management has laid an exceptional foundation, our hope is that moving forward your salary could be significantly increased through the incentive scheme to reflect the energy that MoaAlm will demand.. We are looking for someone who will want to make MoaAlm their home. We all work hard but you should see it as a lifestyle - we are not "staff" in the narrow sense of the word, it's very much a “team” effort! Interested? Take a look at our website www.wearactive.com and if you are still interested, then please send us a cover letter letting us know all about you and a CV. Time scale: Mid March- short list of interviews.
