My name is Clair Carter, a Yoga and travel blogger from Ireland.
Since completing my honours degree in English and Spanish at Galway university NUIG I have been travelling the world to practice and study yoga since 2010. I have spent many months living in India studying with senior and authorized teachers mainly from the ashtanga yoga lineage of yoga, travelling across Europe where I continued my yoga study with teachers here as well as attending and managing numerous silent weekend and 10-day meditation retreats in yoga centres and monasteries in the UK and Ireland,
as well as discovering South America and travelling within my home country Ireland.
I first created my travel and yoga website in 2016, www.yogafootsteps.com. My project ‘The Many Faces of Yoga’ was the first project that I began working on and it continues to be a primary aspect of my website. This is a series of interviews/informal chats with yoga practitioners and teachers from all over the world who I have met along my yoga and travel journey. It is to show that yoga is accessible to everybody and can bring about many positive and transformative changes to people’s lives and is not dependent on age, gender, background, size or reason’s for coming to pratice.
I also create Yoga Travel Guides, these are a list of all of the places that I visit or discover on my travels – including yoga teachers/schools, healthy food places, health food stores, nature, activities, accommodation and any other places of interest that I encounter.
I also write and share via my instagram account relating to my own practice, travels and interests.
I spent one year living and managing a yoga retreat centre in Ireland where I was responsible for writing blog posts for the centre and is also where I completed a year long teacher training in Hatha yoga.
I am currently in Barcelona where I will spend one month working on another project which is more focused on sustainable and environmentally conscious businesses and projects and ways to travel.
