Eimear *** **************
Description
Hello! I’m Eimear, a yoga teacher based in Ireland…but looking for opportunities and experiences around the world.
So a little bit about me, my journey to yoga was a slightly convoluted one. As a child I did gymnastics and ballet, I had always loved playing and exploring various movements but as a teenager and adult I didn’t really have any such physical outlet, I was just always just fit and active from living in the country and running amuck. Then at 24, I found myself trying to recover from a
serious illness, with very little fitness. I was in pain everyday and my relationship with my body had completely broken down, I felt betrayed by and resented her in a lot of ways. I needed to fix this…so I started pole fitness, as it was high flexibility and low impact, I segued from pole into aerial arts and acro-yoga….and finally yoga!!
In my first class I found I knew quite a lot of asanas from my various other physical
practices and realised that my perceptions of what yoga was had been very wrong! Since then it has become a crucial part of my life, it helps me to connect with and nourish my body and mind, and I love to share the benefit of it with others. I had informally thought for years, drawing upon my experience and skills from my other movement practices. In 2019 I decided it was time to formalize and go get certified but sure we all know what happened in 2020! So here I am now, qualified, and looking forward to teaching and sharing ever more. I believe yoga is for everybody regardless of age, size, shape, gender, fitness, or ability level. This belief is at the core of my teaching/sharing, so in addition to more traditional hatha and vinyasa I also deliver chair yoga classes, as well as working with people recovering from cancer. I think everyone deserves to experience all the benefits that yoga can offer. I offer many modifications within my classes as necessary, I always want people to walk away from my classes, feeling relaxed and great about themselves and their wonderful body, never frustrated that they struggled with a particular asana.
I have many years of experience working in events/festivals/retreats in various capacities. My roles have included but not limited to, food catering (menu design, food purchase, food preparation and service, managing the kitchen and team), erecting yurts, volunteer coordinator (managing teams in charge of various tasked on a festival site), delivering of workshops and performances. My incredible adaptability and problem solving skills means I can be put into almost any role, if something needs to get done, it get’s done, no room for ego in a team.
I’m currently working full time as a microbiologist, teaching yoga on the side in addition to my other loves, dancing and performance arts. As much as I love science, I think my time with the 9-5 is done and I wish to move towards living more holistically and with a lifestyle that not only offers me more freedoms to pursue the things I love, (travel, movement practice, new experiences, both solo and shared, creative endeavours etc) but also nurtures my caring side.
