Each morning I led a group of 25 students through a 35-minute yoga session. We experienced many different Asanas and Pranayama’s with fun themes such as Superhero’s, Space Journey, Scuba Diving and water balloon yoga! Students English was limited as was my Hindi, however we broke through the barriers with laughter, smiles and some basic Hindi I learnt. A blessed experience for myself, children give so much of their hearts and I was sad when the camp finished and thankful for the hugs and friendships formed.

My understanding of Anatomy and Physiology is extensive and as we know, many people with past and present injuries benefit from yoga. Therefore I provide catered private sessions where an initial consultation is undertaken to comprehend the issues and design a program for their body and specific needs. During a 90-minute session I work with the students on their individually designed sequence, following this they are given a written copy of the program to practice at home. We check in 3 times a week via phone and email and follow up after a fortnight to build on the practice. This technique has helped people foreign to yoga develop a personal practice that enriches their life through body awareness and confidence while helping them improve their health.

I have provided yoga classes to communities in Noosa hinterland, Northern Cape Australia, Venezuela, India and Tanzania. The abilities always differ and as an experienced teacher I listen and learn from my students and provide what they will benefit from. Pranayama is the consistent practice in every class as all students feel immense benefits from this. I also take care with alignment and happy to spend class practicing a smaller amount of Asanas correctly instead of pushing through a flow where injuries may occur. In saying this, when I have experienced yogis I will move with them through a glorious flow that opens the chakras and brings light and balance to their day. My classes are themed depending on the students and environment I am involved with as this allows greater enjoyment and connecting with the practice.
