Description
I have partnered in healing with various groups of people from high performance athletes to individuals suffering from addiction.
My journey started in 2003 by healing the mind through various forms of therapy. Guiding clients through trauma while learning new coping skills and self-management. I worked for a non-profit organization to provide addiction treatment and violence reduction courses to incarcerated adults in Massachusetts. This controlled environment created an avenue for change for some of our clients.
The journey of the body began in 2010 when I became a Certified Massage Therapist. The miracle of homeostasis and the mechanics of the body fascinates me. Our body is the home to all our senses, our connection to the manifested world. In our Western culture we are taught and encouraged to treat our bodies like things and not autonomous living organisms. Massage is an effective introduction to the relationship we have with our body.
The third thread of my journey is focusing on the Self. I began practicing yoga to help prevent repetitive stress injuries from working as a massage therapist. I completed my 200 hour YTT in 2013 because yoga is the perfect partner to body work. I have recently been working in the Public School system as a support staff as well. The challenges our students face daily has taught me the value and practicality of living the other seven limbs of yoga.
I have continued to teach classes, host workshops, and buid a small business of alternative healing through Reiki, Tarot, and Yoga Therapy sessions. The most successful events have been collaborations. Through a wide network of healers, professionals, and creative thinkers any project I have participated in has been a success. Most recently I was able to partner with a grant funded initiative to revitalize my “gateway” community and provide sixteen weeks of free yoga (asana) to the community.
